FinOps: take your cloud cost process from crawl to walk to run.
We find cost leaks across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, show your spend by department and region, and automate the fixes, so your gross margin improves without slowing engineering down.

In short
VA2PT's FinOps service helps technology companies control cloud spend on AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. Our in-house tools find cost leaks across your cloud accounts, dashboards show spend by department and region, including token and GPU spend for AI features, and automation such as scheduled shutdown of development servers cuts waste, following the FinOps Framework's crawl, walk and run maturity model.
Cost cutting, cost tools or FinOps?
A one-off cleanup lowers next month's bill. FinOps keeps it down. The difference is ownership and cadence.
| One-off cost cleanup | Native cloud cost tools | VA2PT FinOps | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scope | Delete idle resources once | Dashboards and recommendations | Continuous process across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud |
| Ownership | Whoever has time this sprint | Each team reads its own report | One accountable team, monthly review with finance and engineering |
| Visibility | The total bill | Per account or subscription | Spend by department, product and region, including GPU and token spend |
| Waste control | Manual | Alerts you still have to act on | Automation: schedules, rightsizing, commitment planning |
| How long it lasts | Until next quarter | Depends on follow-through | Measured every month against agreed targets |
Sound familiar?
Nobody knows who spends what
Without tagging and allocation, the cloud bill is one number that finance cannot break down by team, product or region.
Waste hides in plain sight
Idle servers, unattached volumes, old snapshots, oversized instances and forgotten GPU capacity keep billing long after they stop being useful.
Savings reports go nowhere
Recommendations get presented once and never implemented because nobody follows up.
What we do
The work inside FinOps Services, run by senior engineers.
Cost leak detection
Our in-house tools scan your AWS, Azure and Google Cloud accounts and find gaps and leaks, with reports finance can act on department by department.
Cloud financial observability
We build dashboards that correlate leak reports with spend and show costs by department, region and cloud provider for your financial controller.
FinOps automation
Automation fixes recurring leaks for you, such as time-based shutdown of development servers outside working hours.
Commitment planning
We model AWS Savings Plans and Reserved Instances, Azure Reservations and Google Cloud committed use discounts against real usage, so commitments save money without locking in waste.
Tagging and allocation
We define a tagging and labelling strategy and cost categories so every dollar is attributed to a team, product or environment.
AI cost governance
We track token usage and GPU capacity per feature and team, set budgets and anomaly alerts, and apply caching, model routing and right-sizing so AI spend stays in line with revenue.
How the engagement runs
- 1
Gap analysis
We analyse billing data, usage and tagging to size the opportunity and see where your FinOps maturity sits today.
- 2
Generate and evaluate savings
We list savings opportunities with their expected impact and risk, and agree priorities with finance and engineering.
- 3
Implement
We apply fixes through reviewed changes and set up automation, allocation and dashboards.
- 4
Monitor impact
We track realised savings and new leaks every month, and follow up until recommendations are in place.

Questions buyers ask
What is FinOps?
FinOps, or cloud financial operations, is a practice that brings engineering, finance and business teams together to manage cloud spend. It focuses on visibility of who spends what, optimisation of waste and commitments, and ongoing governance. The FinOps Framework describes maturity as crawl, walk and run. VA2PT helps companies move through those stages with tooling, automation and regular reviews.
How do you find cloud cost leaks?
Our in-house tools analyse your billing and usage data from AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management and Google Cloud Billing to find idle or underused resources, unattached storage, old snapshots, oversized instances, missing commitments and data transfer surprises. Each finding shows its monthly cost and a recommended fix. The analysis reads billing and usage data only, so it does not affect running workloads.
Will cost cutting hurt performance or reliability?
It should not. We base every recommendation on real utilisation data, flag any risk and agree changes with your engineers before applying them. Changes are made through reviewed, reversible steps, with production changes in agreed windows. Many savings, such as shutting down development servers at night, have no production impact at all.
How does department-wise cost visibility work?
We set up a consistent tagging or labelling strategy and cost categories so each resource is assigned to a team, product, environment or region, on every cloud you use. Dashboards then show spend and trends for each group, with leak reports alongside. Finance can see where money goes and hold teams accountable, and engineers see the cost of their own services.
Can you control the cost of our AI features?
Yes. Token-based pricing on Amazon Bedrock, Azure OpenAI or Vertex AI and GPU capacity for self-hosted models can grow faster than revenue without limits. We meter usage per feature and team, set budgets and anomaly alerts, and reduce spend through caching, routing simple tasks to smaller models, trimming prompts and scheduling or right-sizing GPU capacity.
